3D MODULAR ASSETS FOR A GAME ENVIRONMENT IN THE UNREAL ENGINE

This project is about modular assets for digital spaces in games or other digital worlds. Reconstructing a well known place like a train station was a great reference. All assets are modelled in Maya, then have been textured in Substance Painter and finally transferred and arranged in Unreal.
The natural repetitive elements of a train station allow for a direct understanding of the construction in "slices". Therefore I started with a simple "block out", to get a feeling for the structure and dimensions.
I noticed in particular that textures in the Unreal Engine have a different effect than in Substance Painter and thus require some readjustment. Gloss in particular has a much stronger effect. Decals also make it quick and easy to add more details and visual complexity. The snapping function enables quick construction and placement of the room modules.
This project and especially the texturing with a focus on realism are real fun for me. This project laid a great foundation for similar future projects to come off easier and faster.
I enjoy working on virtual set designs since creating and curating atmospheric spaces is one of my favorite things to do.
